Accountability
Accountability to my clients and communities is a core component of my ethical practice. I strive to continue to build relationships and collaborative practices that foster accountability in tangible and meaningful ways.
If you are thinking of working with me there are a few things I wish to be transparent about as part of this commitment:
Accreditation
I am not currently accredited by any large institutional association. This is a purposeful choice based on the historical and continual pathologizing of LGBT2SQA+, neurodiverse and other marginalized people by mental health disciplines as well as a deep valuing of a more direct and accessible form of accountability.
As such, if you work with me, you will have the contact information of another practitioner that you can contact if you have any concerns with my practices you do not want to speak to me directly about. This avoids the bureaucracy of institutions while also being a more immediate response to your concern.
My Skills and experience
I am still developing my skills in this work, and I assume I always will be. I am working with a network of other practitioners to support my growth. And I greatly benefit from your willingness to communicate with me about what is and isn’t working during our time together.
No matter where I am in this process, I will not be perfect and may make mistakes or cause some form of harm. I aspire to so much more than simply not causing harm and also know that I always need to be doing the work to be more reflexive, engaged and accountable.
